2B1Ask1

How do I become a Mason? Simple!

2 B 1 ASK 1

(to be one, ask one)

The process starts by asking a Mason.

I don't know any Masons.

This is unlikely. You probably already know men who are Masons. You just don't know that they are Masons. We are everywhere. Many Masons wear a Masonic ring, tie tack, lapel pin, or some other piece of jewelry showing the Square and Compasses similar to the upper right hand part of this screen. Many will have the same symbol on their vehicle. Do you know anyone who is a Shriner? He's a Mason. Look around and you may be surprised at how many Masons you really know.

I know Masons but they never approached me to join.

That's not surprising but please, do not take it personally. Freemasonry has a long tradition which requires its prospective members to request membership of their own accord, without the invitation or solicitation of a Mason. Today, this tradition has been very slightly amended to allow a Mason to invite you to a "Masonic Awareness" , "Masonic Information", or other event where you can learn about Freemasonry. You will have the opportunity to join, but you will not be pressured to do so. You must want to be a Mason.

I would rather be contacted by a Mason.

You can contact Matthew John Whittall Lodge directly by calling (508)925-4253; or you can contact us by a letter addressed to 353 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Once you contact us, we will try to provide the information you desire and answer all your questions. If you would like a contact at another Lodge, we can provide that as well.
